Why This Guide Exists
Booking and arrest information does not all live in one Ottawa County database. A person still in county custody may appear in the Sheriff’s current lookup, while a person who has been released may require a narrowly described records request or a court search. A person sentenced to state custody may instead appear in Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS. Court records then provide the place to follow an accusation through its disposition.
Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq., provides the public-records framework, but agencies still review exemptions and redactions. This site gathers the official source paths, explains their limits, and helps readers distinguish a custody listing from a later court outcome. It does not publish a gallery, reproduce arrest photos, or decide what a record means.
What the Site Covers
The central guide is arranged around the agency that is most likely to hold the record and the custody stage involved.
- The Ottawa County record guide, including current custody, recent-arrest limitations, booking-record requests, court follow-up, and record-correction context.
- City-specific starting points for Holland, Grand Haven, and Hudsonville.
- A practical explanation of the official jail lookup, Michigan state-prison offender search, and federal or immigration locator boundaries.
- Official-record context for the Most Wanted Fugitives and Crime News sections, without treating a booking as proof of guilt.
What This Site Cannot Do
This is an independently operated reference website. It is not connected with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Ottawa County Jail, Michigan Department of Corrections, a court, or any other government agency. We do not keep official records and cannot make an official decision about a person’s custody or case.
- We cannot release, hold, transfer, or locate a person in custody.
- We cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send money for anyone.
- We cannot provide legal advice or interpret a criminal case.
- We cannot promise that a public office’s hours, fees, phone numbers, or systems have not changed.
Only the originating public office can confirm a current custody status, charge, release, or record. A booking reflects an accusation, and every person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Search Partners and Referrals
Some pages contain a search box operated by a third-party provider. That provider controls its search results, data practices, and any price it offers. If a visitor chooses a paid partner service after using one of those tools, this site may receive a referral fee that helps support the guide. A referral relationship does not give us control over a partner’s results or charges.
